This is surprising:

Germany's largest newspaper, which has the largest circulation of any in Europe, has endorsed George W. Bush for re-election. Considering the rampant anti-Bushism (and in general anti-Americanism) in the Old European media, and in German media in particular, this may seem shocking. After reading some of their reasons--some pragmatic and others plainly self-interested--though, it does not seem as much a surprise. (Via InstaPundit)

Thanks-
I do swing by your page daily. A few thoughts.

It seems as if their argument is all over the place. A few of the eairlyier statements in the article seem to have a raciest Hitler connection. But, toward the end it becomes more a rehash of direct quotes from the GOP. Number 5 and 6 are the oddest statements.

5.Bush has learned that America can defeat every country in war, but needs allies in peace. Thus, his second term will be characterized by cooperation with international partners. But he will not depend on how Syria or Libya vote at the UN.
Paraphrase- Bush will be peaceful. But, if Syria or Libya do not cooperate fully we will continue the path of the last 4 years.

6.Bush knows that Europe and Germany don’t have the military at their disposal to become involved in any further foreign military engagements. Therefore he won't ask them for help. Kerry will do exactly that – and will further burden already damaged German-American relations.
Paraphrase- Bush will do what ever he wants. He will not bother Germany or the UN with silly request for us to waste our children's lives.
